All Patients - please remember to:

  • BRING IN ANY PRIOR XRAY OR SCAN FILMS - often these are essential for comparison, enabling us to provide a more accurate report of your examination
  • BRING YOUR MEDICARE CARD
  • FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS detailed below for your imaging procedure

NOTE: When you are required to fast for an examination, you may still take your usual medications with a sip of water.

PATIENT PREPARATION

Ultrasound of Pelvis, Pregnancy or Kidneys

  • You need to have a full bladder.
  • Drink 1 litre of water finishing at least 1 hour before your appointment.
  • Do not empty your bladder.

Ultrasound of Abdomen (Gallbladder, Liver or Pancreas)

  • Nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours before appointment.

CT Scan of Abdomen and/or Pelvis

  • Nothing to eat or drink for 2 hours before appointment.

CT Colonography

  • Contact our office for preparation instructions.

CT Scan of Head, Neck, Spine or Chest

  • No preparation required.

Mammography

  • Do not put on any deodorant or powder before your exam
  • Try to wear a two-piece outfit (i.e. skirt and blouse or pants and blouse) because you will need to remove everything from the waist up.
