Cone Beam CT (CBCT)

An advanced 3D imaging technique that captures high-resolution images of the teeth, jaws, facial bones, and airway using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. CBCT provides precise anatomical visualisation with a lower radiation dose than conventional medical CT, supporting accurate evaluation for implants, endodontics, TMJ analysis, and airway assessment.

Yes, all CT scans require an appointment. You can book by phone, in person, or by submitting your referral. Our team will confirm the earliest available time slot.

Preparation depends on the type of CT scan. Our staff will provide specific instructions when you schedule your appointment.

  • You may need to wear a gown.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to complete any paperwork.
  • If you are pregnant, notify a staff member before the procedure.

Ensure you bring:

  • Your referral form from your doctor.
  • Your Medicare or DVA card.
  • WorkCover claim number if the scan is related to a work injury.

A trained radiographer will guide you through the process, provide instructions, and assist with preparation. During the procedure:

  • You will lie on a bed that moves through the center of the CT scanner.
  • The radiographer may give you breathing instructions to ensure clear images.
  • You will be able to communicate with the radiographer if needed.

Once the scan is complete, the images will be reviewed by a radiologist who will prepare a report for your referring healthcare provider.

Truescan Radiology bulk bills most Medicare-eligible CT scans. If there are additional fees, our staff will inform you during booking or upon arrival.

Reports are generally available within 24 to 48 hours. If urgent results are required, let our team know, and we will prioritise your case.
